Sri Lanka Psychiatrists Association (UK)

Sri Lankan Psychiatrists' Association of the United Kingdom was formed in July 2001 with the aim of creating a forum for the Psychiatrists of Sri Lankan origin, practicing in the UK.

The aims and objectives of the Association are:

  • To act as a forum for Psychiatrists of Sri Lankan origin in the United Kingdom enabling them to share ideas and to promote social cohesion.

  • To promote education and research in Psychiatry with special reference to the mental health of people of Sri Lankan origin.

  • To organise and promote education and research events in the UK and in Sri Lanka.

  • To be an advocate for the needs of the Association members in relation to their role in the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

  • To assist the psychiatric trainees from Sri Lanka to obtain their post graduate training in the UK.

  • To promote and advance the delivery of mental health care in Sri Lanka.

  • To safeguard and foster the interests of the members and preserve, protect and enhance their image, by working with other interested organisations.

  • To participate in charitable activities in Sri Lanka, particularly in the field of mental healthcare services in Sri Lanka.
